Welcome to St Brigid's Catholic School, Wynyard
St Brigid's Catholic School is a co-educational primary school situated in the heart of the northwest coastal town of Wynyard. The school population is approximately 150 students. The core purpose of the school is to provide a quality Catholic education for all students in a safe, secure and caring community, which actively models Gospel values.
The school is a focal point for the community it serves, and has a long history of active parent and community involvement. The sisters from the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart opened St Brigid’s in 1923. The school acknowledges and endeavours to carry on the charism of the founding order and strives to live out its mission of love and compassion. The school motto is 'Lord Teach Us' and is proud to be named after St Brigid who is an Irish saint remembered as a very caring person and renowned for her generosity to the poor people in Ireland.
At St Brigid’s, we strive for academic excellence in an atmosphere where Gospel values are modelled and encouraged, and the doctrines and traditions of the Catholic Faith are taught and fostered. We endeavour to encourage a sense of inclusive community, a family-like place, where children, teachers and parents work in partnership and pursue common hopes and dreams.
